How to Sew a Hair Extension to a Clip

Hair extensions have a way of giving you a unique look. This is because they transform the length, tone and texture of your hair. The cost of buying hair extensions is very expensive, but with the right instructions you are able to sew hair extension to a clip yourself, which is much more cost-effective.

  1. Get the measurement of the weave to that of your head, that is, from one ear to the other. Reduce the weave by a quarter of an inch so that the weave does not look too long once it is sewed on the clip and when you put it on. Ensure that you continue taking the measurements so as to attain an even spacing and have an even length of the weave.

  2. Face the prongs outward and then attach the clips to the weft of your hair extension. Through the thick weft and the holes of the clip, sew the hair extension firmly on the right hand side. Ensure that the edges are tight and repeat the same with another clip on the left side ensuring that you are sewing it firmly all through.

  3. Sew the hair extension that you intend to use to the two clips. Take your time to make sure you do it properly and that it is well secured.

  4. Identify on your head by parting the hair the place where you have the lowest measurements. Slip the clips into the place that you had identified in your hair and clip them. Ensure the clips lock into the hair by pushing the edges of the clip into the hair.

  5. Style your hair. Comb your hair to your desired style and then ensure that the clips are covered as you comb and style.
