How to Remove Newspaper Archives

Newspaper readers today read an actual newspaper and also read the newspaper online. If you come across a story that you do not like, there is no way to get it removed from the printed newspaper. You may, however, get it removed from the newspaper’s website. The best way to do this is to contact the newspaper and ask them to remove it.

  1. Navigate to the website of the newspaper and find the story that you want removed from the archives. Copy this link to another location so you will have it.

  2. Navigate to the newspaper website and find the list of employees. Click on the link to open it on your computer.

  3. Find the editor or managing editor, and you will also need to find the web editor. The titles may read a little differently but they will be close to this. Try to find a phone number for these people on their website.

  4. Call the persons listed above and talk to them about the newspaper archive that you want removed. You will need to give them valid reasons on why they should remove it. If you just don’t like the story that is not reason enough. Be sure to tell them plainly why you think it should be removed.

  5. Give them the link to the newspaper article that you copied while you are on the phone with them. Have them navigate to it so they can see exactly what you are talking about. They may or may not decide to remove the article. If they say they cannot do it, ask them who else you can speak to about it. You may have to go through a few people before you find someone who will agree to remove it for you.
