How to Remove Ultra Classic Oil Filter
If you own a Harley Davidson Ultra Classic it is very important to service it on a regular basis to keep it in top operating condition. Although some people take their bike to a professional mechanic to have it serviced there are some things you can do yourself.
Some people find it easy to change the oil on their Harley Davidson Ultra Classic, but they struggle with changing the oil filter. This is one of the most common reasons they choose to pay a mechanic to do the job for them. Changing the oil filter on your Harley Davidson Ultra Classic is something you can easily do yourself by following a few simple instructions.
- Look near the rear wheel of your bike and locate the oil drain hose. It will be located at the very bottom of your motor in the rear.
- Remove the oil hose by removing the clamp holding it in place by using a flat head screwdriver.
- Allow the old oil to drain out of the bike and into a pan. This should be done before changing the filter so you will not spill the oil when changing the filter. You will need to have some new oil on hand to refill the reservoir once the new filter has been installed. If you are not sure what type of oil to use in the bike you should refer to your owner's manual.
- Use an oil filter wrench to remove the oil filter. This should be done by positioning the wrench over the filter and turning it to the left.
- Continue turning the filter until it is loose. You may need to use your hand to finish unscrewing it once it reaches a certain point.
