How to Rent Equipment for a Buffet at a Party

Buffets are great for whenever you are hosting a big party.  Once you set up the buffet you will have time to enjoy your guests because they will serve themselves.  The easiest way to bring all of this together is by renting the equipment that you will need in order to be able to keep the food hot or cold depending upon what type it is.

  1. Create your buffet’s menu.  This way you know what type of food you will be serving and how much of it you’ll need.  You will also know how much equipment you need for your hot and cold food.  Don’t forget to include drinks and dessert.

  2. Take your menu with you whenever you go to the store to rent your buffet equipment.  This helps your salesperson understand your needs.

  3. Start with the basics, which include tables, chairs, tablecloths, napkins, china, silver and cups or glasses.  It is easier to rent all of these things instead of using your own equipment too.  You may even get a discount for renting everything that you need from the store.

  4. Choose equipment that you will be able to easily operate.  Avoid renting complicated steamers and cookers.  Instead, rent dishes that will simply keep your food warm.

  5. Create a separate buffet table for your cold food.  Rent a special salad table that holds ice in its base so that you can place your cold food on top of it.

  6. Find out if the store will set up the buffet equipment for you.  Many rental stores will charge you an additional fee for this.

  7. Finalize your rental agreement with the store.  Make sure to have the equipment delivered well ahead of time.  Find out when and how the equipment needs to be returned as well.

  8. Be prepared to put down a sizable deposit whenever you finalize the rental agreement.  Make sure you also know how much you will be charged if something is broken or lost.

  9. Sign the agreement and enjoy your party.
