How to Rent Video Games

Sometimes it's better to rent a video game than it is to buy it. Some people like to rent a video game that they do intend to buy first to make sure it is worth the price. If you only want the game for a short time or you tend to get bored with video games quickly, renting may be the best option for you.

  1. Go to your local video game rental store. Many large movie rental companies carry video games as well. Find the section for the video games that match your gaming device. Search though the video game to find the one you want to rent. Normally video game rental stores will have the video games in alphabetical order, or they will have them in categories such as action, sports, or driving.

  2. Take the video game you choose to the front counter in order to check it out. Ask them what options you have for the game. For example, normally if you rent the game for an extended amount of time then you will get a cheaper price per day. You will be asked for your contact information. They need this information in case you don't return the video game in time. If you are renting for the first time, they may have you fill out paper work in order to open an account.

  3. Rent the video game online. There are sites like Gamefly that will allow you to rent a video game online and it will be sent directly to your mailbox. Normally they will allow you to keep the game as long as you want before you return it and charge you a monthly fee. If you get a few games a month then this method of renting video games can be much cheaper then renting from a local store.

  4. Make sure you only want the game for a short time no matter where you plan to rent it from. Fees for video game rentals add up quickly and you don't want to end up paying more to rent a video game that you eventually have to return, then to buy a video game you can keep.
