How to Repair Dented Appliances

You can save money by buying appliances that are dented. Although the appliance may still work properly, the company may give you discount because of the physical flaw. Once you have purchased the appliance, you can attempt to repair the dent yourself by just following a few simple steps using common household products.

Supplies Needed:

  • Can of compressed air

  • Hair dryer

  • Two Dish towels

  • Dish Soap

  • Water

1. Place a couple drops of dish washing soap on a dish towel. Lather the towel and then wring it out. Using the towel clean the dented area on your appliance.

2. Rinse the towel out until it is free of soap. Wring it out and clean the soap off of the appliance.

3. Use a dry dishtowel to dry the dent.

4. Move the hair dryer across the dent for 30 seconds. If the dent is severe, move the dryer across it for up to a minute. This works best using the highest setting.

5. Hold the compressed air upside down and spray the dented area for 10 seconds.

6. Repeat the steps if the dent does not come out. The heat of the dryer and the cool compressed air should pop the dent out. Wait three minutes to see if the dent will come out and then repeat. If steps need to be repeated, run the dryer across the dent for a longer period of time and spray the air for a few seconds longer than last time.

7. Use the damp towel to clean off the area of the dent once it has been removed. Then dry the area off using the dry dish towel.

If this method does not work for you, purchase a dent repair kit which can be found in most auto shops or online.
