How to Repair a Frigidaire Dryer Fuse

Frigidaire is a well-known household appliance brand. The brand is known for dependable washers, dryers and refrigerators. Certain maintenance is required on all household appliances to assure performance satisfaction. A Frigidaire dryer fuse may be repaired by following this procedure.

Items Needed:

  • Butter knife

  • Plastic bowl

  • Pliers

  • Replacement fuse

  • Screwdriver

  1. Always empty the lint filter to promote longevity for the dryer and the fuse.

  2. Examine the dryer fuse to see if it has tripped. This is a safety feature built into the dryer to prevent fires.

  3. Read the dryer manual to determine the type of replacement fuse to purchase.

  4. Replace the Frigidaire dryer fuse if the dryer will no longer heat, as it is impossible to repair the fuse itself.

  5. Determine if the power company has disconnected power from the house temporarily or if downed power lines may be the culprit.

  6. Check the circuit breaker to see if it has been tripped or if the breaker needs replacing.

  7. Disconnect the dryer from the source of electricity.

  8. Release the springs under the top of the Frigidaire dryer by pushing the butter knife under the front of the dryer on each side.

  9. Open the cabinet top of the dryer and push it to the side or up, depending on the model.

  10. Utilize a screwdriver to turn the screws on the front panel.

  11. Place the screws in a plastic bowl for safekeeping.

  12. Find the fuse by searching near the back of the dryer above the drum.

  13. Examine the fuse to see if it is open, as this is a sign of a faulty fuse that needs replacing.

  14. Disconnect the faulty fuse utilizing pliers and discard it properly. A slight pull should allow the fuse to slip from the grasp of the connectors.

  15. Attach the new fuse to the connectors.

  16. Re-attach the screws on the front panel to hold it securely in position.

  17. Push the cabinet top back over the top of the dryer and snap it into place.

  18. Plug the dryer back into the electric supply.

  19. Test run a load of clothes.
