How to Repair a Hole in Bath Tub

It is not uncommon for a hole to develop in a bathtub. The hole should be repaired as soon as possible to prevent water from leaking onto the subfloor, which could cause the subfloor to rot. The hole in the bathtub can be easily repaired by using a few basic tools.

How to Repair a Hole in the Bathtub

  1. Use a putty knife to apply an automotive body filler over the hole. The filler can be purchased at any automotive parts store, such as Pepboys or O'Reilly Auto Parts.

  2. Allow approximately 12 hours for the filler to cure.

  3. Use sandpaper to smooth out the filler in the hole.

  4. Use a damp towel to clean off the dust left from the sanding.

  5. Use a paintbrush to apply a tub and tile refinishing paint that matches the color of the bathtub.

  6. Allow approximately 24 hours for the paint to dry.
