How to Repair a Toshiba Photocopier

There are many different types of Toshiba copiers, but you take basically the same troubleshooting steps no matter which one you own. If your copier requires a major repair, you will need to contact a repair technician. However, you can fix many problems with your copier yourself saving time and money.

  1. Power the copier off and then back on before you start troubleshooting. Sometimes this can fix many problems. If your copier is receiving no power, plug it into a different electrical outlet.

  2. Clean the glass on the copier using lint free cloths and glass cleaner. Make sure all dust and dirt is removed from the glass.

  3. Purchase a can of compressed air to clean the drum on the copier. Use the canned air to remove dust, dirt, and toner from the drum. Look at the drum to see if it has any scratches on it. If you do see scratches on the drum, it will need to be replaced by a repair technician. Turn the copier off before you work around the drum to prevent damage.

  4. Put new paper in the copier if you are experiencing frequent paper jams. Make sure the paper is not stored in a humid area. Paper exposed to moisture will curl and can cause it to jam in the copier.

  5. Clean out any paper left in the copier left over from paper jams. Use compressed air to clean the dust from inside of the copier and from the paper trays. If you cannot get to the paper that is stuck in the copier, try to use a pair of tweezers to pull it out.

  6. Look at the feeder tires on the Toshiba copier. These are used to pull the paper through the copier. You can find feeder tires in the paper trays, in the document feeder, in the fusing section, and in the bypass tray. You may need to use a flashlight to be able to see them clearly. If the feeders are worn or damaged, they will need to be placed.
