How to Service a Photocopier
A photocopier is a great piece of equipment to have at your home. It would definitely save you the time and frustration of running to an office supply store to make copiers. The equipment will eventually pay for itself in the long run.
There is nothing more frustrating than your photocopier breaking down when you need it the most. This can usually be prevented from happening if it is properly serviced on a regular basis.
- Shut off the power to the copier and remove the plug from the power outlet. The copier should be off at least an hour before you attempt to service the machine. This is recommended because some of the components inside the copier can retain quite a bit of heat when it is in use and it should be given enough time to adequately cool off.
- Open the cover at the top of the copier to expose the glass.
- Use a non-abrasive glass cleaner and a soft cloth to clean the glass.
- Use a cotton swab to clean the corners of the glass.
- Open the front door on the copier and remove the toner cartridge and set it off to the side.
- Use a small hand held vacuum to remove any paper dust and toner powder inside the copier. You made need to attach a crevice tool to get to the tight places.
- Open the remainder of the doors that will open and use a soft cloth to remove any dust or paper shreds from the machine.
- Close and secure all the doors on the copier and plug back in to power source.
