How to Report Spam to Spammers' ISP

If you are fed up with having your mailbox on your computer filled with spam emails that you did not solicit you should consider reporting the spam to the spammer's Internet service provider. This is something you can easily do by following a few simple steps.

  1. Pull up the spammer's email and locate the header.

  2. Read the information in the header thoroughly. It will contain the name of the Internet service provider. It is recommended that you locate an online tutorial if you are unable to locate the information in the header.

  3. Send an email to the spammer's Internet service provider. This should be done by typing in "abuse@" followed by the name of the Internet provider. If you notice that the email is kicked backed into your in-box as undeliverable you will need to go to the provider's website and locate the information on the site about reporting spam messages. It should provide you with a web address to forward the spam message you received. There should also be an 800 number listed for the provider where you can report the spammer. This is one of the quickest ways to get the spamming stopped.

  4. Print out a copy of the spam message and mail it to your local postal service. They will look into the matter for you. You can go to their website and locate the address you need to send the spam message to or you can take the printout in person if that is more convenient for you.
