How to Reposition Slipped Contact Lenses
Many people with the need for corrective eyewear choose contact lens over glasses. Contact lenses are available in colors to change the appearance of the wearer’s eye. Eye lubricating drops can enable a person with dry eyes to wear contacts. Contact lenses can be difficult to position in the eye for a beginner.
Items Needed:
- Anti-bacterial hand soap
- Contacts
- Mirror
- Nailbrush
- Saline solution
- Towel
- Utilize an anti-bacterial hand soap to thoroughly wash hands.
- Place hands under running tap water to wet first.
- Squeeze an adequate amount of anti-bacterial hand soap onto palms of both hands.
- Rub hands together to spread the soap all over hands and brush nails with a proper nailbrush to clean.
- Rinse hands under running tap water and dry with a clean towel.
- Place mirror on a flat surface such as a counter top or table. If the contact falls out of the eye, it should land on the mirror, counter or table.
- Put saline solution drops in the eye and move the eye from side to side and up and down to dislodge the lens.
- Stand over the mirror, while pulling the upper lid out.
- Examine the eye by looking down into the mirror for the contact lenses.
- Pull the lower eyelid outward to locate the lens.
- Roll eye in the directions of the lens and utilize index finger to gently push the lens into place.
- Remove the lens, if it tries to curl up, by working it to the corner of the eye and sliding it out with the index finger.
- Soothe irritated eyes with a couple of drops of saline solution.
- Contact an optometrist, if all attempts to locate the lens have failed, if eye appears bloody or if in severe pain.
