How to Research Information About a Pediatrician
Pediatricians specialize in treating infants and children. When it comes to picking a pediatrician for your child, doing a little research can be helpful. Finding a pediatrician that you feel is compatible with your family is very comfortable. Not only does this make you feel better but your child will feel at ease too.
- Check with your insurance company as to which clinics they support. Some insurance companies may only let you see Providence providers while others may only allow Kaiser. Knowing this will give you a basis as to where to start your search.
- Once you have checked with your insurance company, log onto the website of the supporting clinics. There should be a tab about meeting doctors or something to that nature. Click on the pediatrician tab and view your choices.
- Create a list of things that you feel are important to you that you want your child's pediatrician to have knowledge of. For instance, if your family has a history of childhood diabetes, selecting a doctor that specializes in such or at least knows how to diagnose a child with diabetes should be a priority.
- Look at each pediatrician's profile. Make a list of the doctors that you are most interested in.
- Call the clinic and ask if the doctor(s) have references that you can verify. Also, asking friends and family members that you know go to the same clinic about their pediatricians. This is often the best research that you can perform because you know you are going to get an honest opinion of the pediatrician from someone that you trust.
