How to Restore Kitchen Sinks
You can restore your kitchen sink if it has become scratched or stained. This will help you save money by not having to purchase a brand new sink. In most cases, once you restore your kitchen sink, it will look like new again. The steps you need to take are simple and will only take a few minutes.
- Put on rubber gloves to protect your hands before you begin restoring your kitchen sink. You should also wear a mask on your face to protect yourself from fumes. Open the windows in your kitchen before you begin.
- Wipe down the kitchen sink with a mild cleanser and damp rag. You can use liquid dish washing detergent if you don’t have a cleaner.
- Pour one part bleach and one part water into a small bucket. Pour the mixture onto the area of your sink that has stains. Allow the bleach to sit on the stained areas for a few minutes. When finished, rinse the sink out with water, and then use a mild cleanser to clean the bleach off. Rinse the sink out again with plain water. Use a towel to dry the sink when finished.
- Use vinegar to clean hard water mineral deposits in your kitchen sink. Soak a paper towel in vinegar, and then lay the paper towel on the hard water deposits for approximately 30 minutes. Remove the paper towel, and then rinse with water. Dry with a towel.
- Restore a brass sink by applying brass polish to the kitchen sink. This will restore shine and help remove tarnish. You can also apply car wax to the brass kitchen sink to help maintain the appearance.
