How to Select a Riding Garden Tractor for Mowing a Lawn
Purchasing a garden tractor can save a person a lot of time over mowing the lawn with a push mower, and the tractor can also double as a hauling device. When selecting a riding garden tractor, it is important to think about what the tractor will be needed for.
- Think about the size of the lawn the tractor will be used to mow. Larger lawns can be mowed more quickly with a big mower deck. If you plan to mow several acres with the tractor, try purchasing a mower with a deck in excess of 40 inches.
- Determine how much to spend on a garden lawn tractor. Mowers that offer more luxurious options like higher horse power ratings or the ability to turn on a dime will mow more efficiently, but they will probably be priced higher.
- Pick a tractor that you’re comfortable operating. Sit on the mower to determine how comfortable it is. Some tractors can be maneuvered using levers while others can be turned with a simple steering wheel. A person will probably stay safer using a tractor they’re comfortable operating.
- Decide what features you’d like your mower to have. Some mowers are able to suck up or eliminate mulch to leave the yard clean each time it is cut. Consider buying a mower with a towing or snow plow attachment if you plan on doing more than just mowing with it. Sometimes these items can quickly raise the cost of a mower and could be cheaper if they are bought separately.
