How to Set Up a Broadband Network

A broadband network has a faster connection speed than dial-up. However, like dial-up it also connects to a telephone line. A broadband network connection accesses the Internet via satellite like DSL. Also like DSL, network adapters are used on broadband networks to connect other computers to the same Internet connection.

How to Set Up a Broadband Network:

Step 1: Insert the broadband network installation CD provided by your Internet Service Provider. Follow the on-screen instructions. When prompted, connect the telephone line into the back of the broadband modem. Connect the Ethernet cable into the back of your computer and to the broadband modem.

Step 2: Click the Start button. Scroll over to select the Windows Control Panel.

Step 3: Select Network and Internet Options

Step 4: Select Network and Sharing Center.

Step 5: Select Setup a Connection or Network. Select Broadband Connection in the list under connection type.

Step 6: Scroll down and select connect to a network. Select OK.
