How to Sing and Dance at the Same Time

Singing and dancing at the same time takes a lot of practice. It's a combination of memorization and practice until you get it right. Performers must do this all the time. With a few easy steps, you'll be comfortable with doing the same.

  1. Plan your routine. If possible, you will want to work with a professional to do this.

  2. Memorize your song. This will include singing it over and over again. You will want to do this until you have completely memorized it.

  3. Learn your dance routine. Practice it without singing until you can complete it without any mistakes.

  4. You are now ready to sing and dance at the same time. Pretend you are on stage. Repeat until you are able to go through the entire routine without any mistakes. This may take several times.

  5. Practice with a microphone. You will want to be comfortable using one. Sometimes when dancing, the microphone will need to be adjusted. It's best to practice with one now to know exactly where you will need to place it.

  6. You are now ready to practice with an audience. Once you get comfortable doing this, you are less likely to have stage fright. Invite several people over to watch you go through your routine. Make sure to use your microphone.

  7. If possible, see if you can practice at the actual performance location. This will help you to get comfortable with your surroundings. Professional singers and performers always feel nervous at the beginning of their careers. With time and practice though, singing and dancing becomes second nature to them.
