How to Stall on Aggressive Skates Starting Out

The process of learning to skate is much more difficult and challenging than it looks. Expert skaters make many tasks look easy, but they have managed to master these tasks and tricks through many hours of extensive practice to enhance the skills they already possess.

  1. Familiarize yourself with the slope of the ramp. You need to get comfortable with getting onto the ramp and moving out of it, as well as moving up and down the ramp to build up momentum.

  2. Acclimate yourself to the sensation of your wheels making contact with the railing, during the process of elevating yourself on the ramp, .

  3. Allow the center of both of your stakes to make contact with the coping of the ramp to utilize the stalling technique. Stalling is holding yourself in position for a short period of time.

  4. Alter your body slightly in order to prevent just coming back down from the ramp. This is done by arching your body back. This has the effect of stopping your momentum forward.

  5. Maintain your position in the stall by keeping your position at seventy degrees. The front wheels should be barely missing contact with the deck, and bending your knees. Keep this position as long as you can.

  6. Move up while turning through the air in a semi-circle.

  7. Angle yourself so that you and the ramp are equally angled, while in the process of turning your body.

  8. Make a small bend to your knees as you make a landing.
