- Eat meals that are nutritious that include a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. Choose natural grains and foods that provide plenty of calcium as well. These foods will be the best to eat while you are pregnant to keep your body healthy and in shape.
- Try to keep greasy and fatty foods to a minimum while you are pregnant. It is good to gain weight while you are pregnant, but these foods can cause you to gain too much weight. An extra 300 or 400 calories will need to be added to your daily diet to provide nutrients for your baby, but it is unhealthy and unwise to do this by eating junk foods throughout the day.
- Get an adequate amount of sleep every night so that you are well rested and can be active the next day. At least eight hours of sleep is required to provide your body with the rest that it needs. This rest is important so that you can keep your energy level up throughout your pregnancy and be able to keep in shape by moving and walking around.
- Consider enrolling in an exercise class during your pregnancy to keep in shape. Many classes are safe to take while you are pregnant, and you should look into one that you think you will enjoy. Consider taking a yoga or aerobics class to provide good movement for your body.
- Stretch out your body regularly to keep muscles flexible and healthy while you are pregnant. This is important so that you can move comfortably with the extra weight that you will gain. Make sure to stretch out muscles in the legs and back because these areas can become sore easily while you are pregnant.
