How to Store Swimwear

Properly storing swimwear can make the fabric last longer and prevent damage to other objects within the home. There are many reasons to think about the places where you put your swimwear, especially if it is wet.  Swimwear can be stored in a number of places.

  • Hang swimwear on a clothesline to dry it. Drying swimwear in the washer will cause it to shrink and it may not fit anymore. Sunlight will dry swimwear items faster, but it can cause the colors to fade.

  • Fold dry swimwear up and put it inside a dresser drawer with other swimming outfits.

  • Keep swimwear in a backpack or handbag until you need to use it next. Other swimming items such as toys, sun tan lotion and towels can be kept in the bag at all times to make taking a swimming trip quick and easy. Try to avoid putting sharp items in the bag with the swimsuit that may put hole

  • Keep all swimwear off of the floor to prevent it from getting dirty or damaged. Wet swimwear can cause damage to the flooring in your home. Standing water can lead to mold or mildew which is also bad for your health.

  • Place dry swimwear items on clothes hangers and keep them in the closet if you prefer. Swimwear fabrics can sometimes be easily snagged. Hanging the item in the closet most likely keeps it away from rougher surfaces like concrete or splintered wood that can possibly cause snagging to occur.
