How to Treat Swimwear

Quality swimwear will last for several seasons if it is properly taken care of. If you notice most pieces only change slightly over the years if it changes at all. Therefore, maintaining your swimwear will end up saving you money.

There are several ways you can treat your swimwear to extend the usability.

  • You should always take a shower before putting on your swimwear. This should be done because you do not want to transfer grease or dirt onto the fabric of the suit, which may cause the material to deteriorate.

  • It is highly recommended that you rinse your swimwear in cold water after wearing. If you choose to wash it instead it should be washed in cold water with a mild detergent.

  • Avoid coming in contact with rough surfaces while you are wearing your swimwear. This would include rubbing up against the walls in the pool, sitting on concrete seats or sitting on the edge of the pool. These things could all cause snags in the material of your swimwear. If you want to sit on the edge of the pool it is recommended that you sit on a towel to prevent snagging.

  • Swimwear should be washed after wearing it a couple of times to remove any chlorine or salt water. It is recommended that it be placed in a nylon bag and washed in cold water with the machine set on the gentle cycle. The swimwear should be washed by hand if it has any type of glitter.

  • Never place swimwear in the dryer. It should always be hung on the line or laid out flat to dry.
