How to Wear Plus Size Swimwear
Plus size swimwear is at least size 18. It is for larger women who want to wear something at the beach that will make them feel comfortable. Modern plus size swimwear is specifically designed for larger women. It is designed differently than regular swimwear in larger sizes.
- Select swimwear from a line that is specifically for plus size women. Department stores such as Macy's and JCPenney offer plus size clothing lines. Manufacturers such as Trimshaper and Carol Wior specialize in plus size swimwear.
- Look for swimwear that is designed to be slimming. This generally means the swimwear has a supportive lining to reduce any bulges.
- Wear swimwear with a tummy control panel. This is a panel in the mid section of the swimwear. It is made of a strong elastic material, which minimizes the appearance of the tummy.
- Choose swimwear made from a blended fabric that contains an elastic material such as spandex or nylon. The elastic material provides a slimming effect, and the natural materials make the swimwear comfortable.
- Consider plus size swimwear in black. Solid black swimwear is the most slimming, but a light pattern on a dark background can also have a slimming effect.
- Select a tankini for plus size swimwear. A tankini is a cross between a tank top and a bikini. It provides the modesty of a one-piece swimsuit with the convenience of a two-piece swimsuit. Some tankinis are specifically designed for pregnant women.
- Choose a flattering cover-up. Many plus size women wear cover-ups to provide additional coverage while wearing swimsuits.
