How to Take Rhythmic Gymnastics Photos

In gymnastics there is constant movement. In order to photograph these events you should possess adequate photography skills and a working knowledge of equipment. You should also fully understand the concept of taking rhythmic gymnastics photos that are capability of capturing this constant movement.

  1. Select the right camera. Select a camera which allows you to set the shutter speed, that possesses automatic snap and is digital.

  2. Set the shutter speed to 1/250. This setting will allow the camera to literally freeze actions. This is beneficial in taking rhythmic gymnastics photos, as there is constant motion. With this setting, you could also capture photos of gymnasts in action without the appearance of a blur on the photograph. This is especially beneficial when shooting photographs of floor exercises and/or ribbons.

  3. Set the camera to enable the automatic snap. This setting allows you to hold down the capture button without resetting the camera. As you hold down this capture button, the camera constantly snaps photographs. This is beneficial in taking photographs of each action taken by a specific gymnast.

  4. Review the digital display once you are finished shooting these photographs to determine which photographs are worth keeping. With the settings you have set on your new camera, you should have the ability to shoot numerous photographs without missing a shot.

  5. Use the USB cord that came with your camera to upload your photographs onto your computer for editing. Adjust any saturation and/or color that is off. Crop photographs when necessary.
