How to Use 1950s Pin Up Makeup

When thinking about 1950s pin up makeup, think glamorous. Pin up makeup should also be flawless. The eyes and the lips are meant to pop and be the stars. You will want to use matte makeup, nothing with sparkle or glitter. The matte finish will reflect the light and that is what you want for this look.

1. Tweeze your eyebrows or have them waxed. The pin up girls of the 1950s had perfectly done eyebrows, thin with a nice arch. Search the Internet for some pictures of eyebrows from the era to be sure you have your done the same way.

2. Apply matte foundation to your entire face.

3. Find the apple of your checks. Apply a rose colored blush concentrate on the apple of your check. Sweep the blush brush up over your check bones lightly.

4. Apply a base coat of eye shadow in a nude neutral tone. Apply this from the lid up to the brow. Use a color that is a little darker and apply that on the crease of your eyes and on the outer corner of the eyelid. Blend the darker color in with your makeup brush.

5. Use a liquid eyeliner in black to line your eyes and give them that cat eyes effect that was so popular during the 1950s. To do this, draw a line as close to your upper lashes as possible. When you get to the edge, extend the line up a bit so it is going upward toward your brow. Do not extend the line too much, just enough that you can notice it. Next bring the point back down to your eyelid.

6. Curl your eyelashes, then apply a couple of coats of mascara.

7. Using an eye shadow one shade darker than your eyebrows, fill your eyebrows in by applying the shadow to your brows.

8. Line the lips with red lip liner. Blend the liner on to the rest of the lips with a lip brush. Apply red lipstick over your red liner, or skip the liner and just apply the lipstick.

9. Apply face powder to your face with a brush.
