How to Use Magnetic Hair Rollers
Women have more options than ever before for curling their hair including magnetic rollers. Magnetic rollers work a little differently than other types of rollers. A magnet roller is designed to cling to wet or damp hair. Each roller contains several ventilation holes to help dry wet hair after the curlers have been placed in the hair. Learn how to use magnetic hair rollers for just the right amount of curl.
Items Needed:
- Magnetic Rollers
- Bobby pins
- Brush or comb
- Shampoo your hair prior to rolling with magnetic curlers or wet the hair and towel dry until it is damp. Magnetic rollers do not work on dry hair. Comb out the hair just as you normally do and make sure it is free of tangles.
- Shop for new magnet rollers at discount stores or drug stores. To select the right size of roller, you must be able to wrap your hair around the curler about two times or more for the hair to cling tightly to the roller. Smaller sized rollers produce tighter curls and very large rollers produce large soft curls.
- Separate a small section of hair that is wide enough to fit on the width of the roller. Parting the hair prior to rolling can make the curling process easier. Use a hair clip to hold the majority of your hair back from the area you are working in. Wind your hair on the roller by attaching the hair to the roller at the end of the hair length and continue rolling. You can roll your hair on the roller all the way up to your scalp or only a small length of hair. Hair can be rolled up, under or to the side using a roller.
- Secure each roller in place using a clip or a bobby pin. Try to use the same amount of hair in each roller taking care not to use too much hair. The more hair placed on a roller increases the drying time. Repeat these rolling steps for all portions of your hair until you are done.
- Choose your preference for drying your hair. You can let your hair dry naturally, which could take several hours, blow it dry using a low to medium heat setting, or sit under a hair dryer.
- Test a curler by unrolling it part way and use your fingers to determine if the hair is sufficiently dried. When your hair feels dry remove the magnetic curlers and style as you desire.
