How to Use Old Military Equipment

Each and every year there are a number of military reenactments performed throughout the United States. Sometimes people will choose to use old military equipment to make the reenactments seem more authentic. Before people handle old military equipment, they should know how to properly use it.

  1. Know exactly what piece of old
military equipment that you have. For instance, even though guns may
look similar, the guns may operate in different ways. Guns may load
differently and may fire differently. Know if the gun that you will
be operating is a front-loading gun. Know how many times that it can
fire. Know exactly how much gunpowder that the gun takes.

  2. Be sure that the old military
equipment is properly cleaned before you attempt to use it. In the
case of firearms, equipment that is not properly clean may
malfunction. Some equipment will have to be taken apart to be
    thoroughly cleaned.

  3. Thoroughly examine and test each
piece of old military equipment. Make sure that there is not any
decay present on the piece of equipment. Make sure that all parts
are properly working. Replace any parts that need to be replaced.

  4. Be sure to take all necessary
safety precautions before using the old military equipment. Make
sure that you use blanks for all firearms. Blanks make it appear
like the firearm is firing actual live ammunition.

  5. Properly store the equipment after
each and every use. This will help ensure that the equipment remains
in working condition. In the case of metal and steel equipment, make
sure that the equipment is dry to avoid rust.
