How to Use Satellite Internet With Vonage

Vonage is a voice over Internet phone or VOIP. This technology works by using your existing high-speed Internet connection so that you can make calls anywhere in the country and even internationally. The savings is phenomenal and a fraction of the cost you would pay for traditional phone service. You can use Vonage with satellite Internet by following these steps.

  1. Realize that satellite Internet
comes in two different types. The first is the one-way Internet that
will use your telephone line to send the data. The second is the two-way satellite that doesn't need to rely solely on your phone line to
send data, but rather sends the information to the satellite, which
    is then transmitted.

  2. Choose the two-way satellite
Internet option so that you can use it with Vonage. The one-way
satellite will simply not work because the phone line will be in use
already. Vonage will send you a piece of equipment that you plug
into your computer and then your phone is connected to the phone
    jack. Installation is very simple.

  3. Keep in mind if you live far out
in the country, you may not have the best reception on your Vonage
phone since the signal is delayed, it may have a lag time when
speaking on the phone. Obviously, the best option for VOIP is cable
Internet, but this is not always an option for some.

  4. Expect there to be times when you
are not going get a good signal on your phone or possibly not any
dial tone due to the weather. If it is storming, this will cause a
bad connection as will snow in your satellite dish.
