How to Use a Wheel Backhoe

Mastering a wheel backhoe is a huge job. This big machine is actually two machines that work as one, so an operator really needs the skill in operating wheel backhoe in order to have an improved productivity. Skilled backhoe operators must know the proper way of setting up the many tasks to take full advantage of this heavy duty equipment.

  1. Check the machine before using it. Although the best time to check the wheel backhoe is after using it, it is always good to check before getting to work for safety purposes.

  2. Sit down on the driver’s sit and be comfortable. Adjust everything including the seat, steer wheel, gear, buckets, and lever before going to work.

  3. Drive the tractor to the digging area. Position the machine in line with the area you want to dig in. You need to make sure that there is plenty of clearance all around the machine; this is to ensure that boom of the wheel backhoe can swing freely.

  4. Put the stabilizer of the equipment down on the ground. Stabilizer lifts up the machine and stabilizes the back part especially if you are in an unlevelled ground. You can do this by using the lever.

  5. Lower the front bucket. This will help you to lift heavy objects.

  6. Extend the extender hoe if needed by smashing the pedal which activates the hoe. Extender hoe extends the stick that holds the bucket, so you can reach out five to six feet more. It helps you pick the dirt you cannot quite reach.

  7. Hold your machine’s lever in stable while the backhoe is in operation. Swing the bucket to the area where you want to dump the dirt or the heavy objects.

  8. Repeat the operation until your project is done.
