How to Use an Internet Cafe
With so many Wi-Fi hotspots, it is extremely easy to find an Internet café. The idea behind these places is to give customers quick access to computers on lunch breaks or while traveling. Smart phones have caused Internet cafes to be harder to come by.
- Sign in at the counter if you wish to use a computer provided by the café. There may be a charge per hour and additional charges for printing. Most cafes will provide you with a "menu" and you can put down a small deposit to get started. If you are bringing your own laptop, you may or may not need the passcode for the Wi-Fi. Most places offer a free hotspot if you bring your own system.
- Log on to your computer and surf the Internet, check email or do homework. Remember that when using a public computer or your own laptop in a public setting that you need to be careful not to save your passwords and to not open sensitive information.
- Pay for your computer use once you have completed your session.
Internet cafes truly are great for those traveling who want to lighten their load and not take a computer with them. These cafes are, however, becoming harder to find with the wide use of Internet capable phones and free Wi-Fi hot spots in coffee shops and fast food restaurants.
Some cafes cater to college students or high school students, which allows for a great environment to study in while having access to food and coffee.
