How to Winterize a Jayco Pop Up Tent Trailer
When the seasons change and it gets cold outside winterizing your trailer keeps the trailer in good condition throughout the cold and freezing weather. When the summer rolls back around this helps prepare you for less work and maintenance getting your Jayco pop up tent trailer ready for the warm weather. Winterizing your Jayco trailer can reduce costly repairs and help keep your trailer in tiptop shape for the camping season.
Things you need:
- RV antifreeze
- Phillips screwdriver
- Heavy duty plastic
- Double-sided tape
- Vent covers
- Remove the battery and store it in a warm and safe. This will keep it in good working condition. Perform any repairs that need attention inside and outside of your Jayco pop up tent trailer. Check all the electrical connections to make sure light and bulbs are working properly.
- Clean the inside of the trailer thoroughly. Remove any food items and beverages to prevent mold and to keep the rodents away. Clean out and wash out all storage areas, including the refrigerator and cupboards. Clean floors, rugs, couches, and bed cushions from any dirt and debris.
- Use heavy-duty plastic to secure the windows on the Jayco trailer. Use double-sided tape to attach the plastic to the windows. This extra insulation to the windows will keep the cold from getting in and protect the inside of your trailer from damage.
- Drain all water tanks and water lines by opening all drains and faucets. Once everything is drained close the drains and faucets, then add RV antifreeze to the tanks and water lines. This prevents the drains and faucets from bursting and getting damaged during the cold.
- Close up all of the air vents that blow out cool air during the warm months. Purchase vent covers for your model of your Jayco trailer and use them to cover the vents.
