Commercial landscaping involves more than basic lawn care. Services provided by commercial landscapers also include diagnosing and treating diseases in several plant species. Individuals working in this field spend a majority of their workday in the heat creating and maintaining landscape designs.

  2. Ensure that your college or university selection provides post-graduation job placement.

  3. Enroll in a commercial landscaping design degree program or related field. Take as many additional landscaping courses as possible before completing your degree program.

  4. Sign up for the work/study program in commercial landscaping design. This program provides you with a small salary in addition to experience in the landscaping field.

  5. Apply for a commercial landscaping design internship during your senior year. These internship programs provide you with additional hands-on training in the commercial landscaping field. You will meet several contacts during this internship program, which will aid you in entering the field after graduation.

  6. Visit the career placement counselor for your college or university. The career placement counselor will prepare you for the interview process.
