How to Write a Paranormal Novel

Paranormal books have become one of the biggest sellers, and they are in extremely high demand. Publishing companies are actively searching for new writers to bring on board. If you have an interest in writing, follow these simple tips to get started creating your own paranormal novel.

  • Create a rough draft of your plot. You will make changes to this as time goes by, but you need to determine the basics of how you want your book to play out.

  • Develop characters. Decide on the main characters names. Put each name on a blank piece of paper, and create this character. How does the character talk? How does the character dress? What is something special about them? You want to make your characters as real as possible.

  • Research the paranormal. If your book is about the supernatural, you have to make that the main part of your plot. You will want to know everything you can about the paranormal and integrate it into your storyline.

  • Start to write. You might find that you are not able to complete some chapters. Skip ahead and start another chapter. You can always come back and finish the first one. It's not uncommon for writers to do this.

  • Set a goal on how many pages you will write everyday. One famous author writes six pages a day and releases a book once a year.

  • Keep a notebook with you all the time. You never know when something will inspire you. Keep the notebook to jot it down in.

  • Put it all together and expect to make a lot of changes. Continue to write daily. You'll be amazed at how fast the time goes by and how much you accomplish by doing this.
