Ideas For Patio Arbors

Garden patio arbors are a wonderful way to provide shade to your garden. They also can be used to create a main focal point within the garden or patio. Arbors can provide definitive divisions between different areas of your patio. Constructing a patio arbor is a great project for a weekend handyman. Here's some things to consider.

Patio arbors are a terrific way to bring the focal point from your plantings, which are usually at ground level, up to eye level. Consider hanging some colorful greenery over the arbor with bright flowers to complement your garden or containers of flowers.

Use a patio arbor to divide your space into separate living areas. If you have a pool designate one area of your patio as a "green space". Use an arbor as the focal point. Make this area specifically for flowers and plants.

Build an arbor for the climbing plants on your patio. Vines and ivy are wonderful plants to shade an arbor with when left to grow to their natural potential. They will lend a more natural, less manicured feel to the space.

Select a spot for your patio arbor that is quiet and relaxing. Add a swing for seating.  Benches are another good choice. They can be added to the side supports of the arbor.

Garden arbors can offer privacy since they can be constructed with two or three side structures. The three-sided models offer more protection from the weather and the direct sun. If you are creating an area of the patio for relaxing consider adding the three sided arbor for maximum privacy.
