Installing a Garden Sprinkler System
Watering often and efficiently will be the key to a healthy garden. Most people install watering systems to get the proper amount of water to each section of the garden. These systems don't have to be fancy, just built well enough to supply adequate water.
Pre-Installation
Inspect your garden. Write down the dimensions of your garden and what types of plants you plan on growing. Different plants will require different watering needs. Travel to your local home and garden store and consult with an expert about what types of pipe you're going to need. They should also be able to help you determine how much water each section of your garden will need.
Draw a sketch of where you plan on putting each section of irrigation first. This will serve as your blueprint just in case you forget your plan. Decide where you want the water supply to come from. Some people dig a well and let the rainwater collect in it, while others attach their irrigation system to a fresh water supply near their house. Just make sure you choose a place where you think you'll always have water available.
Installation
Dig the pipe trenches and install the pipe. Don't fill the dirt back over the pipe just yet. Test the irrigation system first to make sure water flows through all the pipes and there are no leaks. Bury the pipe with the dirt you used to dig the trenches when you've noticed the water if flowing properly. Adjust the water pressure to where you want it. A lot of irrigation systems will even have a timer you can set so the garden will be watered at a certain time each day so you don't have to manually turn it on and off yourself. This would be very beneficial if for some reason you couldn't make it home during the normal watering time.
