Instructions on Installing Boat Seats in an Aluminum Boat

An aluminum boat is more affordable than many other boats on the market, and usually a good vessel for fishing trips. They are also easier to move from one spot to another, due to their lighter weight. They are usually low in seating, so adding extra seating is sometimes required.

What you will need:

Boat clamps, boat seats, measuring tape

Directions:

  1. Take a measurement of the dimensions of the boat to make a determination of the number of seats you can reasonably get into the boat. As part of this, keep in mind how seats will move. Make sure that you allow enough space for these swivel seats to move as they are designed. Make a mark at the intended location of each of the seats so you will have the position ready for installation of the clamps.

  2. Buy the seats and clamps for the seats. Make sure the clamps and seats are compatible. Getting them at the same location is a good idea for this reason.

  3. Position the boat clamp into position where you intend to install the seat. Follow the manufacturer's directions, as there are differences depending on the individual design. Make sure that the clamps are tightened and secured.

  4. Place the seat into each of the clamps. Make sure the seat is properly mounted with nuts and bolts. It is best to use a bolt for each of the holes on the mount to make sure the seat is securely connected to the clamp's base.

  5. Once the seats have been installed, give them a test by sitting and moving them around. Make sure the clamp is securely fastened, and that the seat does not move other than as intended prior to taking the boat out.
