About the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution

Lancer Evolution Engine Specs

Mitsubishi Lancers are a four-door, high performance sedan. The Lancer Evolution (Evo) is a sedan with components that make it similar to a rally car. The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution comes in four trim styles: the GSR, SE, MR and MR Touring. All four trim levels have the same engine, and all have turbochargers and intercoolers.

Block Composition and Configuration

The Lancer Evolution's engine block and cylinder head are made out of aluminum and the block comes with four inline cylinders. All cylinders have a bore of 3.4 inch along with a stroke of 3.4 inches. The engine has dual overhead cams which operate at 16 valves. Mitsubishi has attached a supercharger and intercooler to the block, which enhances the engine's performance.

Capacities

The Evo has a four-cylinder block with a displacement of 122 cubic inches. Due to the size of the block, Mitsubishi suggests using five quarts of 5W-20 engine oil. The top engine speed, known as the redline, is 7,000 rpm. The radiator core measurement is 700 x 408 x 27 mm, and the gas tank has a capacity of 14.5 gallons.

Output

Producing up to 291 horsepower at 6,500 rpm, the Evo is quite a powerful car. The engine's peak torque output has a measurement of 300 feet a pound at 4,000 rpm. Meanwhile, the compression of the cylinder ratio is 9 to 1 and alternator produces up 130 amps of output. The GSR fuel mileage measures an estimate 16 miles per gallon in the city and 17 miles per gallon for other trim levels. All trim styles get 22 miles per gallon the highway.
