Outdoor Covered Patio Designs
You likely spend a lot of time outside when the weather is warm. Many people build patios outside their homes so that they can enjoy the weather and extend the livable space of their homes. If you like the idea of being outdoors while still being protected from rain, a covered patio may be perfect for you. There are many types of covered patio designs to choose from.
The Converter
You may already have a patio outside your home that you love spending time in. If you want to make this patio usable in all weather conditions, you may consider simply adding a roof over the structure to provide shade and cover from rain. You can make this roof freestanding or attach it to your home. This is a great way to make your favorite outdoor space even more usable.
Walled
Maybe you have a space adjacent to your home that would make a great outdoor space, but you want privacy from neighbors. Perhaps you simply have an ugly view on one side of this area, but a great view on the other. Consider building a half or full wall around your patio to direct the eyes to a better view. You can also build a wall on one side while leaving the other sides open. Just because you are building an outdoor space, does not mean you have to look at something you do not like.
Bug Off
Perhaps you live in an area where there are lots of bugs. You want to be outside, but hate the noise and bug bites associated with the experience. Consider building a patio with screening to let the air flow, but keep the bugs out.
Half and Half
You might like the idea of shade and protection, but also want to get some sun or see the stars at night. It is not uncommon to cover half of a patio, while leaving the other exposed to the elements. This is a great option that can also be combined with a screened-in area, to make the best out of both experiences.
The Garage/Patio
If you are one of those people who parks your car in the driveway and has a garage with nothing in it, you might want to think about converting it into an indoor patio area. There are several lines of screening products designed to fit in an average garage door space. Add some patio furniture, a cool drink and a friend to spend the time with and you can turn a garage into a nice outdoor space, great for spending time in or entertaining.
