Quick Tips for Home Office Organization

Keeping a neat and tidy home office is often harder than it sounds. If not kept up on a regular basis, it doesn't take long for a home office to begin to look like a terribly crowded electronic jungle. However, with a few simple tips, you may find your home office can be put back in order once again.

Take Out the Trash

The first step in cleaning your home office is getting rid of anything and everything that you do not need. There really is no reason to hang on to that paperwork you have had piled on your desk for the last 5 years. If it has just been lying there collecting dust for a year or longer, chances are you will never need it again. Toss out the papers, pens that no longer write and any items that you have no use for. Decluttering your desk and office area will get you well on your way to being organized again.

Get a Filing System

If you do have important documents that must be kept and cannot be saved to your computer, invest in a filing cabinet and files for neater storage. The files can be easily labeled so that you know exactly which documents are stored in which location. This is a great way to keep your office desk nice and neat at all times.

Designate Storage Areas

This can make a big difference in how organized your home office is. Your filing cabinet can be the reference area, your desk and computer can be the work area and you can use office storage bins for an office supply area. By keeping the areas separate, it will allow your office to have a more clean and open appearance.
