  1. You will need a bucket, towels, hacksaw, PVC primer, glue, cement, replacement pipe, and couplers.

  2. Turn off the water with the shut off button. After turning off the water and disconnecting the supply lines, turn on the faucet to relieve any pressure.

  3. Locate the leak and determine the type of pipe you need. The existing pipe is usually labeled with the size and type.

  4. Remove the damaged pipe. Measure the coupling and add 3 to 6 inches between them and cut the piece out with a hacksaw. Place the couplings over the ends.

  5. Apply the primer to the inside and outside of the couplings.

  6. Apply cement to the coupler and slide it over the areas with primer and hold it. Make sure both ends are covered.

  7. Place the replacement pipe between the couplings. Put primer on the inside of the receiving coupler and apply the cement. Repeat for the other end. After the cement has cured, slowly return pressure to the pipes.
