How to Build Self Storage

The Definition of SAN Storage

A SAN is a Storage Area Network. This device is specifically for storage of data. In it a large amount of data can be stored using very little outside resources. Do not think of it as an extra device to put up with; rather think of it as a device that could be of great use if something happens to a server.

A storage area network device enables servers to be completely separate from stored data. Before a SAN came along a server would have to hold the data in a small storage compartment, sort of like a cupboard and own it till it rotted or got deleted. This would take up loads of space and make the server processing very slow and sluggish.

This outside or peripheral device can keep things moving at top speed by just sitting there. One of the great things about a SAN is that other storage holders can be attached to it so the possibility of greater amounts of storage is doable. A SAN is sufficient enough to back up a hard drive and keep going. Restoration of a server is another area where a SAN is very useful.

Adding this type of storage device to a server will be a wonderful advantage to the owner of that server. Files and folders and other data that can be stored on a storage area network device can be easily found again if the server is turned off and turned on again. The cost of a SAN can run a consumer anywhere from $130.00 to over $1,000. An extension for a SAN will cost a consumer somewhere between $10 and $100. Each server can have its own SAN and will run smoothly in the network. Not just the server, but the client or customer computers will be able to use a SAN as much as is available. Be careful not to overload one storage area network by getting more than one.
