Things to Consider When Converting Your Auto

There are alternative ways to help save money on the cost of gas, by converting your car to where it can actually run on water. Some automobile manufacturers are currently experimenting on the use hydrogen to fuel cars. Hydrogen is a colorless gas that is chemically combined with oxygen in order to form water. Hydrogen powered vehicles can get up to 40 percent better gas mileage.

Some of the things that you should consider prior to making the decision to convert your automobile, would be:

  • Cost - Unless you are mechanically inclined to perform the conversion yourself, you should expect to spend approximately $1000 in order to have auto converted. If you are a mechanic, you will spend half of that amount. The highlight of the decision is that you will save about 30 to 50 percent more fuel mileage.

  • Warranty - Any changes that you make to your fueling system will void your warranty. It is a good idea to perform conversion on older model vehicles. According to the law, an automobile dealer or manufacturer will have to prove that the damage to your engine comes from your own modifications to the vehicle.

  • Chemical Use - If you are decide to perform your own conversion you will have to consider the complications when it comes to the chemical usage. Electrolyte fluid is a necessary component that is made up of distilled water and a dangerous chemical, Potassium Hydroxide or Sodium Hydroxide. Potassium and Sodium Hydroxide are alkaline that are corrosive to aluminum engine parts and can also burn exposed skin, or even blind someone who is not careful.

There are a lot of pros to converting your vehicle, as well. A water powered hybrid still uses a small amount of gasoline so will be a very low amount of pollution that is caused by this type of vehicle. The components used with a hybrid are actually improving the air quality.
