Tips on Chosing Location of Flower Beds

Flowerbeds can add color to your yard as well as provide a nice, ambient feel to your outdoor space. Choosing a place to put a flowerbed is not that difficult, especially when you consider that having some grassy area is also nice.

  • House Perimeter: Most flowerbeds are placed in dirt beds around the outside of the house. This adds colors directly around the house that attracts attention and creates color to decorate your house with.

  • Curb Space: If you have space on the edge of your yard, adding a flower bed with bright colors that surround your property is one way of adding curb appeal and potentially increasing the overall value of your home. The more attractive your home looks, the more likely it is that it will attract people to the neighborhood or specifically your home if you are trying to sell it.

  • Window Flower Beds: Some people have flower boxes that are attached to their windows. This creates a beautiful scene to look at when sitting next to the window as well as adding color to the outside of your home.

  • Surrounding Trees: If you have a tree in the front or back yard, many people will use the immediate space around the trunk to add a flowerbed. Not only does this add extra nutrients to the soil so that the tree can grow to its full potential, but it will also create a focal point in your yard so that other things like weeds and brown spots in your grass won't be as noticeable.
