Oil changes are an important part of the regular scheduled maintenance that your vehicle's manufacturer recommends. The oil filter traps dirt and debris from the engine and should be changed with the oil.  Regular oil changes will keep your vehicle in good running condition. There are a few tools that are needed to change the oil in your vehicle.

It is a firm metal strap that has a pivoting adjustable hinge with a handle.  You slip it over the oil filter and pull the handle to loosen the oil filter.  Once the oil filter is loosened, you can just unscrew it with your hands.

  • An oil drain pan is needed to catch the old oil that drains from the oil drain plug and the oil filter. A drip pan can be an old bucket or anything that can the oil can drain in.

  • A funnel is needed to pour the new oil into the engine without making a mess on the engine.

  • The jack stands are used to bear the weight of the vehicle after it the have been jacked up.
