Traditional Banking Services VS Electronic Banking Systems

Technology has revolutionized the way that people conduct their daily activities. Banking is no exception. In fact, banks have been some of the companies that have most actively embraced technological change. This has led to increases in customer satisfaction, and customers' access to their accounts. However, there are important differences between traditional banking services and electronic banking.

Traditional Banking

Traditional banking requires the customer to physically go to the bank to conduct business. This provides customers with the opportunity to address a bank employee in person. As a result, it is often easier to find the specific information that the customer requires. Also, the physical bank branch is able to offer a variety of services to its customers. These services include things such as loans and checking accounts. Unfortunately, online banks are unable to provide their customers with the same wide range of financial services. This largely results from the inability of electronic banking to find solutions to the security risks that accompany originating loans. However, visiting the local bank branch has its own unique problems. In particular, it can be difficult for people to find the time to visit the bank. This is especially true in highly populated areas. In large cities, there can be a considerable wait time before the customer is served by a bank employee.

Electronic Banking

Electronic banking has its own set of problems that can drive down customer satisfaction. Often, it is difficult for the customer to directly communicate with a banking representative. While there is often a phone number for customers to call, the wait time on these lines can be excessive. Also electronic banks are considered less secure than their traditional counterparts. It is possible for hackers to obtain the account information of a customer, and then use this information to transfer funds or steal information. However, electronic banks have their benefits. In particular, online banks are able to accomplish most routine banking activities immediately. From depositing checks to transferring funds, online banks are able to perform these tasks faster than traditional banks. This is the primary benefit of online banks, and for many people, this benefit outweighs any shortcomings of electronic banking.
