Types of Athletic Learning Games for Kids

Learning games that incorporate fun and activity can hold children's attention better. This allows them to engage in learning and to absorb the educational information. Athletic games give learning a more exciting side and turn the games into a competition.

Items Needed:

  • Jump ropes

  • Ropes

  • Safety cones

  • Bean bags

  • Large bowls

  • Obstacle Course- Design a fun and educational obstacle course in the classroom or outside. Kids love obstacle courses, and completing them gives children a sense of accomplishment. Your obstacle course should have trivia and learning questions throughout it. Lay out athletic obstacles that include jump ropes, ropes and safety cones. At each obstacle, an adult should be present who will ask students a relevant question. Before they can crawl under the rope, they must correctly answer a question. Another idea is to quickly recite their multiplication tables while jumping rope. If they are ever incorrect, they must start over. Whichever child has the fastest time wins the obstacle course.

  • Bean Bag Toss- Each child should get the same amount of bean bags. Taking turns, the teacher or adult will ask an appropriate educational question. If the student gets the question correct, they can take one bean bag and attempt to toss it into a bowl that is set up across the room. If they provide the wrong answer, the next child will have a chance to answer. The first one that has all their bean bags in the bowl wins the bean bag toss challenge. Reward with candy or small prize.
