Types of Homemade Birthday Decorations
Birthday parties are fun and memorable events for both the birthday boy or girl and their guests. In order to get the most bang for your buck, consider making some of the birthday decorations for your child’s next party. Decorations cover every aspect of the party and the only limit to decorating is your imagination.
Stickers: Stickers can be found online in the form of pictures. If you are lucky enough to find a page of small colored pictures that represent your party theme, you are well on your way. If not, search images and find small images that would look great as stickers. Purchase paper with adhesive backing. Create a page of stickers and print on the adhesive backed paper. Cut out and use for decorating table cloths, party bags, hats or children.
Party Hats: Party hats can be made out of a piece of paper. The hat can be painted, colored or decorated as you or your guests see fit. Construction paper or tag board in various colors or designs works well. When finished decorating, make paper into a cone shape. Staple together and punch holes around the ear areas on each side. String elastic or yarn through the holes and wear. Another idea for head coverings during parties is to work with the theme in a more realistic way. If you are having an alien birthday party purchase inexpensive hats at the dollar store and decorate to look like a space helmet. Use bandanas for the pirate themed party.
Table Cloths: Allow each child to use cloth, markers or other art supplies to add their special touch to the table cloth before time to eat. Allow time for area to dry before using. Another table cloth idea is to have an artsy person sketch the theme item on the table cloth and then provide guests with markers or colored pencils to color in the decoration.
Party Favors: Purchase a mold from a cake decorating supply company and pour melted chocolate in the mold. Put in freezer to harden. For extra effect, wrap in a special paper or wrap. For example, when having a pirate themed party wrap in a coin type candy in shiny gold paper so the guests get their treasure!
Your imagination is the only limit to creating a fun and inexpensive party for your child’s next birthday.
