Types of Horse Fencing
There are many different varieties of low cost horse fencing. The most important thing to look for is functionality. This will keep your horses from escaping or getting hurt as well as people around them being safe. The main factor in the cost of a fence is the size of the area but the materials used for the fence also plays a part in the final cost.
Wire Fencing
- Wire fencing is the most affordable and durable fencing there is on the market. It is easy to install and comes in many different sizes. Place a board around the fence at the top; this will allow the horses a visual stimulant.
Tube Fencing
Portable tube fencing, also called round pen, is very similar to pipe fencing. Round pen fencing can be found in an arena for training and working of horses.
Wood Fencing
Wood fencing is the most popular horse fence. This fence is easy to install and is extremely affordable. Wood fences are an excellent choice for corrals and pastures. Unlike wire fencing, which requires specific, materials and equipment; traditional wood fencing is a project you can do yourself. With a post hole digger, and several pieces of lumber, this type of fence is very easily installed. One of the downsides of the wood fence is that it requires regular painting and maintenance.
Plastic Fencing
Plastic fencing is an excellent alternative to the wood corral fencing. One of the great advantages of this type of fencing is it is maintenance-free. Plastic fencing does not need to be painted and will not splinter like wood fences will.
