Types of Permanent Makeup
Micro pigmentation, also more commonly referred to as permanent cosmetics, employs tattooing as a way of creating carious makeup looks. The result is a cosmetic look that resides within the skin rather than on top of the skin as with traditional cosmetics. Cosmetic tattooing is usually done on both upper and lower eyelids, lips and eyebrows.
- Eyebrows: The eyebrows can be applied as either a ‘solid fill’, in which the brow looks completely filled in, as though with a pencil, or it can be applied via a ‘soft fill’ in which the technician fills in the eyebrow with a steady and artful single stroke technique.
- Lash enhancements: A lash enhancement is performed in order to enhance the upper eye shape that might be missing a bit of drama, it is also very useful for perform an improvement to the overall lash line itself if the original seems a bit thin. It’s important to note that the lower lids are not included in a lash adjustment as that is reserved for the eyeliner technique
- Eyeliner: The use of eyeliner can also enhance the shape of your eyes and offer the appearance of thick, full lashes. In addition, when your eye is fully closed the flesh of the eyelid will show a dramatic flash of color. By either increasing or decreasing the thickness of the eyeliner and its application focused either more on the outer edge of the eye or the inner, you can make your eyes seem either closer, or further apart. You can even have additional ‘end lines’ for the liner if say, you wanted a more Egyptian look or feel.
- Lip Shaping: With lip shaping the technician uses either the color of your own lips or a chosen lipstick color to go over your lips in such a way that the overall shape is teased out a bit to make the lips appear more shapely
- Lip Liner: This is the same in permanent color as it is in everyday makeup application. The technician uses an obvious color choice to surround the outer line of the lips. For a softer look, you can also get this technique with what is referred to as a ‘blend’ in which the liner is brought in from the base line and faded into the lip itself, giving the lips a faint tint of coloration.
- Full Lip Color: This is the equivalent of traditional lipstick. The entire lip is worked over with one’s chosen color and the entire overall lip shape enhanced.
