What Are Special Ops Watches Used For?

Special Ops watches are typically built to military specifications and they must be able to endure the toughest of conditions.  Testimonials from military personnel indicate that they rely on that toughness to complete missions and help save lives.  Civilians who enjoy activities like rock climbing and scuba diving can also find these watches extremely useful.

Special forces soldiers in the United States armed forces are known for their resiliency.  Their strength is often tested to operate under extreme conditions.  Their missions and conditions could not be more extreme from water to desert, to high or low altitude, their equipment has to be as tough and reliable as they are.

  • Overall toughness

    • Special operations soldiers can find themselves operating at high mountain plateaus, or actually scaling a mountain face.  Their watch needs to hold up to the beatings they take.  Special ops watches need to both stand up to high altitude and able to withstand the abuse of being slammed against rock and other hard surfaces.  Special Ops watches are also resistant to scratching.

  • Water Resistant

    • Special Operations solders can find themselves working in deep water conditions as a normal part of their job conditions.  A special ops watch is designed to work at depths of 200 meters.  The toughness of the watch can translate into civilian life as well, for instance, scuba divers can find special ops watches useful to their daily routine as well.

  • Charging system

    • The water resistant feature of the special ops watch is extremely important to the functionality.  The ability to recharge the battery instead of replacing, the battery helps maintain the waterproof seals.  Each charge lasts typically one month with limited use of the light feature for the internal dial and the external light.

  • Lighted feature

    • Special Operations forces typically operate under cover of night.  They need a watch that can be read under blackout conditions.  A typical Special Ops watch has an internal light feature which allows the face of the watch to be read, and also an external light which allows for reading of maps or for distress signals.
