What are Assisted Living Facilities?
Assisted living facilities cater to individuals that are not able to live alone but are not in need of constant care. These individuals are not in need of the care of a nursing home but need assistance with day to day activities. Assisted living facilities give their residents the freedom to move about as they please.
The staff at assisted living facilities assist their residents with preparing meals, dressing and bathing. The assisted living staff also does laundry, household chores and monitors medication when requested by the resident. Many assisted living facilities offer their residents storage spaces, phones, televisions, religious facilities, lounges, assigned parking and exercise rooms
Assisted living facilities also give their residents the option of being driven to doctors appointments or driving their own cars. These facilities also encourage community involvement to keep their residents active and from becoming bored. Their residents are offered to go to community events and on shopping trips.
Assisted living facilities sponsor indoor activities as well to help their residents fight depression and keep the mind active. These activities include games, arts and crafts, and local entertainers. Assisted living facilities are less expensive than nursing homes.
